A DAY OUT: 6.5.22

Sunday, 6.5.22:

This seems to be a weekly thing and I’m all for it. Me and Kayla went on an adventure in the city (Manhattan for those who don’t live in NYC). We don’t really get out much, which is 100% our choice because we’d rather not be out and about, around people… Unless it’s for a concert, comic convention/art show or Disney. But if I’m being perfectly honest, I love going out with Kayla. Plus, it was Pokemon GoFest weekend so we were able to take advantage of that.

Our day started out with trip to Studs to get Kayla’s ears pierced. The walk over there from the train wasn’t bad at all. The weather was almost perfect. Not too hot, which was great because sweating sucks ass. Once we got in, we were pretty much out in about 20 minutes. Kayla was just getting second holes in her lobes, so naturally, that was never going to take too much time.

Our next stop was S’Mac, a Mac-N-Cheese spot and one of my absolute favorite places to eat. I think I’ve been going there for about 10 years now. If you’re a fan of Mac-N-Cheese, I highly recommend going to S’Mac. There are several locations in the city, but the one I mainly go to is on First Ave and East 12th Street, in the East Village. My go-to plate is the “Major Munch” (8 inch plate) All-American with breadcrumbs… Your “basic bitch” dish. I believe Kayla got an All-American with Hotdog slices and breadcrumb on a Kayla-Sized “Nosh” plate. We were both pretty stuffed after that, but our day wasn’t done.

Any time I’m in the area, I try to hit up Forbidden Planet, despite it always making me sad because I’m usually there when I’m broke. We walked our way up there just to take a look around and see what figures/collectibles they had… mainly NECA figures. They had some pretty cool stuff. I took some videos and pix. I cried a little. Then made our way out before I cried some more.

After Forbidden Planet, it was time to make our final stop of the day… Brooklyn Dumpling Shop. Kayla had been eyeing this for a while so we made it one of our stops during this adventure. I’m all honesty, I’ve always hated dumplings, so this is a place I’d probably never even bother to check out, but when Kayla showed me the menu the night before, I was so down! They had a lot of interesting food but I think they one thing that caught my eye was the peanut butter & jelly dumpling. Unfortunately, I was stuffed from S’Mac so I wasn’t ready to eat my dumplings any time soon, but I did take a bite when I got home and I actually liked it a lot. They gave me “uncrustable” vibes. Next time we go out to the city, I’ll make sure I don’t eat too much before we hit up BK Dumpling Shop so I can chow down on all their stuff!

Overall, it was a fun day… As days usually are with Kayla. The weather was just right so we didn’t die from the heat. And we managed to squeeze in as much Pokemon Go as we could. If I had ONE complaint, it would be that the “Special” Pokémon in raids was Nihilego… a Pokémon neither me or Kayla cared about.

Now we just have to make it through one more week till our next adventure, where we’re going to see Jurassic World: Dominion at our new favorite theater, The Alamo Drafthouse and pretty much 100% going to eat at Shake Shack. Til’ next time! 🍻🤘🏼
