i did better than expected…besides the dos xx, cigarettes and ridiculous amount of cola consumed.
visiting family is too much fun. if fun is defined by torturous events to haunt your mind for days, weeks even. condescending family members spouting off about nonsense when they know mostly nothing about me- and i them. i go off what i thought i knew, and so far it all seems to be the same. terrifying documentary coming soon.
the stomach cramps were enough to snap me back into it- into what i’m seeking to do- my partially thought out plan to lose weight, be gluten-free and seek happiness overall.
oddly did not suffer from large cysts or visible signs of “whoa too many beers” is dos xx’s safe? could i possibly have a ‘safe’ beer that’s not 5.49 a pint? more research needed.
and also did not gain any weight- did burn calories kayaking into the ocean and peeling boiled shrimp. mmm
this week i hope to get back to the gym, back to a routine- i now know how long it takes me to bike to work- and how important it is to make a list before i take a long trip to the grocery store.
life without scooter is average- i’ve done it before, seems that it would be a lot smoother transition if i were in a more dense city- austin is great- but still planned like texas where cars are necessary for a quick trip. so i’ve learned the art of planning- yesterday i went to the library and on the route back stopped at the grocery- perfect!
oh also- my one year anniversary for being employed here is today!
and tomorrow i move offices.
woot.
Hello Again, I see you are in Austin, I will be there in two weeks. There is a great gluten intolerance/celiac support group in Austin that covers the Austin & San Antonio area. They also do restaurant reviews. Most all the restaurants have GF menus – well except chuy’s, I do not find them GF friendly but I love Freebirds…
& if you have the funds or if someone is treating you Pappadeaux on I-35 is great in accomodating a GF diet.
Glad you made it thru your vacation without too many set-backs… Hang in there it will soon get to be routine, the beginning of GF is a bugger but I know you can do it!! & yes, you will get used to the beer, I do not drink it, but I have a friend that he & his wife just went GF & they love redbridge. he was telling me today that they carry it at most all the HEB stores.

re your banana bread – you can use almost any combination of GF flours like Sorghum, Potato flour, tapioca flour, & sweet rice flour, if you do not have any xanthan gum, just be sure to add a tablespoon of cornstarch to your flour blend & it should be okay. banana bread is one of the most delicious & fail proof things to make.
You can also grind nuts like walnuts or pecans up fine in the blender & use them as part or all of the flour… there is a whole nuther baking world out there!! :) enjoy…
The people that are probably reading your blog are the people that are googling HS and celiac – like I did. I have been trying to get the word out for almost 3 years now.
I pray you stick with it & become one more person in HS remission so that your story can help others (well & your health also…)
reading about family is too much fun. if fun is defined by discovering how they feel about you on an online blog.
