gluten-free vs. guilt-free

i need to learn the difference.

now that i’ve decided to stay away from gluten- all i crave are cupcakes, brownies, pizza, hamburgers… etc.

and knowing where to get gluten free options- makes me want to go try it all, but i must remember- there is a definite line between gluten-free and guilt-free. just because it doesn’t contain gluten- does not mean it does not contain sugar, fat, carbs, evil, etc.

i did have a delicious gluten free burger monday evening- at terraburger- paired with lovely sweet potato fries. the bun tasted much like schlotzsky’s buns- although schlotzskys are not gluten-free.

now i crave schlotzskys. dang.

instead i will enjoy my protein rich meal of black eyed peas, tomatoes- along with black beans soyrizo & egg scramble —-(blackbeansoyrizo burgers gone bad!)

  1. i don’t know if you like zen, but their shiro miso veggie bowl is one of my favorite things to order from there, and i’m pretty sure it’s gluten-free *and* healthy. the only thing that concerns me, health-wise, is the sodium content. but they offer a little card that has the nutritional information about most items, and whether they are dairy, gluten, wheat free (as well as the WW points). that they provide this information alone makes me go there kind of frequently.

sorry about your cravings, but are you detecting any differences in how your body feels?

yeah i saw that the last time i was there- big ups for local food places- terraburger, zen, brickoven on 35th. i read somewhere that a large number of people who are gluten-sensitive/intolerant/etc. live here in austin. weird?

i did notice the next morning after i had wheatfest 09- that i got a new cyst.. as for the disappearance, not noticeable yet.

but i do feel better knowing more about what i’m eating, and that makes me feel great..
